Daylilies in a Hayfield
What started out as a birthday trip to Daylilies & More in Lodi, Ohio several years ago has developed into a business of our own.
"This kind of unfolded before us, and it's been a blessing". I was a stay at home mom wanting to do something that I was passionate about, something that would allow me to earn income for my family while remaining at home to raise my three young boys.
After the trip, it got us thinking "We could start our own daylily farm."
All of our family, while supportive, thought we done lost our minds!
I know that without a doubt that God has had his hand in this journey from the very beginning.
"FOR I KNOW the plans
I HAVE FOR YOU,"
declares THE LORD,
"PLANS TO prosper YOU AND NOT TO HARM YOU, plans TO GIVE YOU HOPE AND A future."
Our humble beginning started out here. My birthday present, little did I know, the hayfield right behind this little patch, would someday be a field full of daylilies let alone a business!!
We went out to Ohio and dug and brought home 4,500 fans of daylilies. So we started planting in the heat of the August sun, while most of the daylilies sat on a trailer patiently waiting to be planted.
After what seemed like forever we got them all settled in to their new home. And now we wait...
The next year, our first growing season!!! Drought, but those daylilies bloomed their hearts out, they never fail to amaze me how tough they are. This year was a growing season for us all.
The following years have been great, they are blooming and thriving each year better than the last. Adding new beds and more daylilies! I have even started hybridizing my own, a whole new world lies ahead.
I enjoy sharing my knowledge and passion for daylilies with all my visitors. I'm always learning and making improvements.
I love daylilies! They make me happy and I love to share the happiness with others. Happiness is contagious.
